Yin Yoga
- calm, passive & meditative practice style
- Body is gently stretched (approx. 3-5 minutes per asana/pose)
- Focus is on fascia/connective tissue
- 5 Elements according to TCM (Water, Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal)
- Meridians (energy pathways according to TCM) are stimulated
- Yin & Yang Balance (Daoism/Taoism)
- internal organs (Yin & Yang organs) are gently stimulated
- no perfection (everyone has their anatomy)
- playing the edge (we slowly stress our connective tissue)
- increases flexibility/mobility
- you always feel the after-effects (rebound phase)
- Blockages & tensions can release (heal)
- Stress can be reduced
- supports the regulation of the nervous system (parasympathetic)
- Mindfulness - here & now
"We don´t use our body into a pose, we use the pose to get into our body"
Your body loves movement
The Fascination of Fascia
Fascia are your body's invisible network – they connect everything, shape you, keep you mobile, and let you feel what's good for you. Your 6th sense, so to speak!
They envelop muscles, bones, organs, nerves, even individual muscle fibers – and connect everything to each other. In the past, they were thought to be just "packaging" – today we know: They are an independent sensory organ with billions of receptors.
What do fascia do for you?
- shape - they envelop, protect & give you support
- move - they store & transmit force, make you flexible
- perceive - they contain many pain and movement sensors – they are our largest sensory organ
- supply - they control your metabolism & fluid balance
- communicate - they send signals to your nervous system, they react to stress, emotions & movement
Stress and lack of exercise cause fascia to stick together & harden - this leads to tension, pain & restricted mobility.
Keep your body supple - it will thank you!
Supple fascia
Scope for flexibility
If we move too little or are constantly under tension, the fasciae will stick together or harden.
This can manifest as:
- Stiffness or pain
- restricted mobility
- a sluggish metabolism
Regular Yin Yoga, MyoYin or fascia training:
- releases adhesions
- stimulates fluid exchange
- improves blood circulation
- strengthens elasticity
- activates metabolism
- firms connective tissue
